Horseback Riding Camp
Riding Camp
Ring Lessons - Trail Rides - River Rides - Stable Management
Camp Rim Rock’s Horseback Riding Camp is for horse lovers. The girls who attend our Horseback Riding Camp love horses. They like to groom them, swim with them, learn to care for them and most of all, ride them! We provide an opportunity for girls to do all those activities and more. While learning about horses, they also learn about themselves. Horseback riding increases confidence, teaches responsibility and boosts self esteem.
Excellent instruction in English horseback riding is given at every level for girls entering 4th through 11th grades. Campers receive three to four hours of instruction daily with a riding lesson and a stable management class each day. On alternate days, the campers enjoy a trail ride through our miles of trails or a river ride in the beautiful Cacapon River. We maintain the highest standards in teaching and safety.

Caroline Henn, our Equestrian Director, has been trained in the British Horse Society and Pony Clubs. She directs Camp Rim Rock’s riding program. During the last 18 years under Caroline’s leadership, Camp Rim Rock’s riding program has grown in size and reputation.
Ring Lessons - After a riding evaluation by our Equestrian Director, campers are assigned a horse which best suits their ability. By following the expert instruction of the riding counselors, campers will discover how easy it is to walk, trot and canter with confidence. More advanced riders will perfect jumping fundamentals.
Trail Rides - Skills are expanded as campers enjoy miles and miles of trails winding through the beautiful West Virginia hills on our 600 acres.

Stable Management - One of the daily activities includes the care, fitting of tack, bathing, grooming and braiding of the camp's 70 horses. The older girls learn to lunge and long rein. We also provide demonstrations from the farrier and other equestrian specialists.
River Rides - Our program includes a fun experience unlike any other. Campers are able to ride some of our horses in the river and even end the session with some "slip'n'slide". It's an unforgetable experience that our campers and horses love.

Mini Camp
Aquatics - Sports - Performing Arts - Arts and Crafts - FUN Evening Activities
Mini Camp is a one week introductory camp for rising 2nd, 3rd and 4th graders who have not attended Camp Rim Rock before. It is a week of camp designed to introduce first time campers to “sleepaway camp”. Campers may attend Mini Camp for one year only. Activities include Aquatics, Sports, Performing Arts, Fine Arts and Crafts and FUN evening programs. Horseback Riding is not available in the Mini Camp.
All in a Day’s Fun
Camp Rim Rock’s schedule is arranged for the best balance between creative and physical activity. There is a daily siesta after lunch when campers read, write letters and relax. Campers are encouraged to write home frequently.
Camp wide activities such as Olympics, hoedowns, scavenger hunts, singdowns, Sunday picnics, campfires, performances and the final evening’s candlefloat are highlights of each session.
